This intensive hands-on course provides the skills and knowledge needed to prepare the confined space rescue technician to respond to confined space emergencies including identifying confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces, the hazards associated with permit-required confined spaces, target industries and hazards, state and federal regulations, components of a rescue operation, and the roles and responsibilities of the rescue team.

This five-day (40 hour) course is designed to meet certification requirements for Rope Rescue Technician. This training will include the participant’s ability to evaluate, manage, and perform a technical rope rescue as described by NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670. Topics: multi-point anchor systems, compound rope mechanical advantage systems, ascending and descending a fixed rope, fixed rope systems, patient pickoffs and highline systems, knot passing and litter attendants.

This is a five-day (40 hour) course. This course provides information on low-angle and high-angle rescue, familiarizing participants with operation of simple, complex, and compound rope rescue systems in the low- and high-angle environment.

This course will provide the student with basic wildland chainsaw knowledge. The course will consist of one day of classroom/maintenance instruction with chainsaw breakdown and repair. Days two and three will provide students with hands on saw techniques including sawoperations and advanced cutting.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:
Students will be responsible to provide their own chainsaw, extra chains, chaps, Wildland PPE Gear (including helmet, boots, eye/ear protection, pants, and jacket) fuel and bar oil. Additional details sent upon registration.

This course is a FEMA Sponsored course and is required for deployment in the US&R system as a Canine Search Specialist. This course is appropriate for canine handlers that will work with either Live-Find (LF) or Human Remains Detection (HRD) canine during search and rescue operations as part of Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Task Force. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to successfully perform the position of Canine Search Specialist on a US&R Task Force.
